Putting the Dukes Up for Fibroids!

Updated: Jul 28, 2023

Welcome to July Menstruators! In honor of Fibroids Awareness Month, we are fighting our hearts out to spread awareness so we can do what's necessary to avoid being a statistic. According to the Office of Women's Health (2021), up to 80% of uterus owners will develop a fibroid by age 50. We are here to dismantle that theory and showcase advocacy just for this month but indefinitely.

Happy #FlowFriday! We want to provide you with education, resources and opportunities to advocate for menstrual equity, combat period poverty and achieve optimal womb wellness. Let's challenge ourselves to be open-minded to alternative techniques that may improve your uterine health. If any of our information is unfamiliar or does not resonate with you, we encourage you to research for yourself to gain a better understanding.

Toilet Paper...Can It Impact Your Period?!

Common brands have PFAs in their toilet paper. Polyfluorinated Substances, are also known as “forever chemicals” because they do not break down naturally. Whether one time use or a recycled paper company, PFAs are prevalent either way.

Common ingredients that are added to toilet tissue but we want to try and avoid are:

  • Chlorine

  • Furans

  • Dioxins

  • Formaldehyde

  • Fragrances

  • Paraffin

  • Bisphenol A (BPA)

  • PFAs

  • Pesticides Residue

  • Petroleum-based Mineral Oils

Check out these recommendations:

  1. Bidets: will get you clean and pristine.

  2. Bidet Handheld Sprayer: alternative to full bidet.

  3. Bidet Toilet Seat Attachment: alternative to full bidet. Most hygienic when you use bottled spring water.

  4. Organic & Chemical Free Bamboo Toilet Tissue: research brands first

  5. Reusable Cloths: may be the most sustainable financially however will require frequent cleaning.
